When skies are dark and eyes are fierce
I look to Earth, who’s heart is rich
How it grows what such good
despite it’s itch
despite the burrowing and scratching and scarring
I remember how it waits them out,
How luscious forests and vast desert sands
have covered the cities of blood and sand
I carry these lessons when I am wounded
I wait it out and soothe it softly
if Earth can heal and always return
then so can I
for of it I am born
and like a mother who heals from birth
I too shall be as Mother is Earth
For if I am left alone to breath and to grow
I too shall return to thyself
with new shoots from ash-ed earth
where once were burnt and scarred and torn
I too shall recover
as if reborn.
