Feeble
You can call me Mable
Age comes swiftly
I see my face crumble
A simple message, but for those who suddenly realise that our bodies are not keeping up with our minds, it never ceases to come as a shock and a surprise, one day we are criticising our appearance because we don’t fit into the social construct of beautiful, when suddenly we look in the mirror one day and remember that we were actually really beautiful. The aging body has it’s own beauty. It is different. We start to appreciate how functional we are and how much our bodies do for us, We stop taking it for granted. There is a moment when we have to grieve for the loss of youth. It’s an important stage of life. Accepting that our bodies and faces change is necessary. Change is always inevitable. It is also a time to reflect on our life lessons. We are stepping into an important stage in society. It is a time to share our lessons. Gatekeeping is anathema. Be careful of it. Share wisdom with those around you. Young people will seek you out for knowledge, share it freely, help them navigate the world around them. Your face is the face that the youth will seek for guidance and wisdom. What an incredible role your hold. Be careful to be respectful of your own aging process. Do you welcome it as a friend or are you fighting it like its an enemy to be vanquished? Aging and wisdom is precious and has it’s rightful place.
