Neighbours

You  pass

I wave

You nod

I smile

An opening

A poor friendship

An agreement of notice

Not too close

But close enough

Neighbours can be such close allies but they can also become mortal enemies. But more often than not, neighbours are people that we live alongside who we deliberately keep our distance from. An occasional wave or nod as we come and go.

But there are many people who play this role in our lives. People who we see regularly we might even call them friends. But it never goes deeper, we don’t open up with them.

I discovered that, there are people who sit on the edges of our lives, who we may label as friends and are a part of our community. But it’s not until events happen that you truly learn who they. When a line is drawn, people have to choose what side they are on. I experienced this many times. In the end I was always so grateful to learn who people really were. This could only happen through troubles or unhappy events. Not only do you learn who is truly friend of foe, but you also get to learn who you truly are, where you stand and what you stand for.
