Knight

I fight

Fearless

Massive

Muscular

My stead swift,  we sweep past the slow ambulating travelers, who barely look up

Dust is my wake

I will reach the well

And quench my thirst first

Faster than most

I will sit and boast

“WINE AND FOOD!”

As I welcome them as host

This is a reference to the knight of wands in the Tarot. It describes the fierce ambition and drive and even competitive spirit that rushes him onward. The Tarot version is a little more ambiguous. You can ask the question, Where is he going? Why does he have such haste?

The Wands element in the Tarot is your clue. Wands is the fire element. The wand is always depicted as a phallic symbol. It often represents fiery sexual passions. It can just represents passions of all kinds as well. It is the only knight card that is rearing up and ready to run or charge ahead.

This knight as I have described him,is mainly driven by his ego. He must be first. He represents the rush of being stronger, faster, better. He has no mission, he is not going to war he is going…. to a tavern (side eye). His aim? To be first and to boast to those who arrive after him.

Even though the knight is a grown man, and he holds rank, but there is a sense that he lacks understanding perhaps even wisdom (remember that gender is irrelevant in the tarot).

There is wisdom in slowing down and seeking perspective rather than rushing in.

A competitive spirit reveals discontentment of the self.

It is a spiritual caution. To touch base with yourself to ask why this is such a driving force. Self acceptance removes the need to compare the self to others or to strive to be ‘better’ than others.

Self acceptance, results in the gentle acceptance of others also.

How are you being unkind to yourself. How do you talk to yourself?

Take some time to listen to your own self talk. Is it kind or mean? Is it gentle or cruel?
